Ahead of the 18th session of the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Baku, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu met with the different world leaders on Friday.
Mr. Naidu met Sheikh Haseena the PM of Bangladesh, K P Sharma Oli the PM of Nepal and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev welcomed VP Naidu upon his arrival into the country. The VP is heading the Indian delegation at the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government which will be a two-day event.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the summit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met the Deputy Foreign Minister of Kenya, Ababu Namwamba and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana.
The theme of the summit to be held is “upholding the Bandung principles to ensure concerted and adequate response to the challenges of the contemporary world”.
NAM is one of the largest gatherings of world leaders and India is one of its founding members.
