An End To Humanitarian Crisis

New Delhi (Adarsh Jha): The United States of America has forced more than 2000 kids to live separately from their parents at the US-Mexico border. People who have illegally immigrated to the US have been kept in detention camps and the children have been separated from them.
This step of Trump Administration faced massive criticism from all sides. The hardline approach did not go down well with people as it was called inhumane and tragic. Even the First Lady, Melania Trump and President’s daughter Ivanka Trump were critical of the decision. Trump argued that such thing happened because of a 1997 order which states that children cannot be kept in detention with adults for more than 20 days. POTUS also said, “Under current law, we have only two policy options to respond to this massive crisis. We can either release all illegal immigrant families and minors who show up at the border from Central America or we can arrest the adults for the federal crime of illegal entry. Those are the only two options, totally open borders or criminal prosecution for law-breaking,”
To everyone’s surprise, Trump reversed this decision on Wednesday by passing an executive order. POTUS claimed that there will not be any leniency on the issue of illegal immigration and administration will exercise zero tolerance.
Democrats who blamed Trump for creating a humanitarian crisis have welcomed this step.
This has given temporary relief but created greater loopholes in the law which the Congress has to tackle.
