“Dalit killings” in Gujarat leads to submission of adjournment motion notice

Congress MPs Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Kodikunnil Suresh, MK Vishnu Prasad, Mohd Javed, and Abdul Khaleque submitted an adjournment motion notice on Friday in the Lok Sabha over the alleged “killing of Dalits” in Gujarat.

Adjournment motion is an exceptional procedure if submitted in the house, lead to setting aside all the normal proceedings to indulge in discussion of a definite matter, which is, of grave public importance.

This came in the wake of the killing of a 25-year-old Dalit man in Ahemadabad. The man was killed by his in-laws who decipher from an upper caste community.

The killing was condemned by Congress leader Ahmed Patel.
