SC grants extension till August 15 to the mediation panel in the Ayodhya land dispute

A five-judge constitution bench headed by  CJI Ranjan Gogoi granted permission to the panel to submit its report by August 15.

Chief Justice Gogoi said, “We are not going to tell what progress has been made, that is confidential.”

Retired SC judge Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim Kalifulla submitted its report to the court.

Justices SA Bobde, SA Nazeer, Ashok Bhushan, and DY Chandrachud also constitute the bench.

The apex court also seeks the “utmost confidentiality” to ensure the success of the proceedings. It also said that the mediation will take place in Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh.
