The construction of 40 new trains of the Vande Bharat Express series of Indian Railways is currently under construction. The manufacturing of these trains is hung due to the tender game. In this case, people will have to wait to travel on these trains. These trains were to be constructed in the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) of Chennai, but the Railway Board has canceled all tenders.
Apart from Vande Bharat Express, tenders have also been canceled for Railway Main Line Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) or Electronic Multipurpose Unit (EMU) and Air Condition EMU. It is said that tender of Rs. 3000 crores have been canceled. The first 40 rake (train) was tender, but when it did not matter, then reduced it to 37. However, after all the tenders were canceled.
It is now being said that a fresh start of the tender process will be initiated. So, it will take a long time for new trains to get on track. Even after the canceling of the tender, many things came up, but the railway has given reasons like implementing new technology, transparency, etc.
On February 15 this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off the country’s first semi-high speed train Vande Bharat Express from New Delhi to Varanasi.
