USA and Oman attain ODI status

The USA has attained the One-Day International status as they defeated Hong Kong by 84 runs in the World Cricket League Division 2 on Wednesday. Oman also acquired the status by registering wins in their first three matches.

USA’s win against Oman was their third in the tournament in four games and this ensured that are able to finish in the top four in the table, International Cricket Council (ICC) reported.

The USA lost to Oman by six wickets but defeated Namibia by two runs and Papua New Guinea by ten wickets.

Oman, on the other hand, defeated the USA, Canada and Hong Kong.

Both Oman and USA now join Scotland, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in League 2, where they will play 36 ODIs each over a two-and-a-half-year period on the pathway to Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Canada has kept their hopes alive of qualifying for Division 2 as they defeated Papua New Guinea. However, PNG, Namibia, Hong Kong are also in with a chance to qualify for the Division 2 League.
